York Minster

Saint Mary's Abbey Churches Christ Church Cathedral

A church has stood on this site since 627 AD, when King Edwin of Northumbria had one built. A Normal cathedral, smaller than the current Minster, was later built on the site; its remains can be seen in the crypt. Work on the present minster started in 1220, and was completed some 250 years later.

The Minster has 128 stained glass windows spanning some 800 years.
