Christ Church Cathedral

York Minster Churches Dublin Churches

Christ Church Cathedral, or "Christ's Church, Dublin," is Dublin's oldest and largest Christian church. Originally Roman Catholic, it became Anglican during England's rule over Ireland during the reformation. When Ireland once-again became independent, so did the church: it became a founding member of a new Catholic organization not officially under the auspices of the Roman church, called the "Church of Ireland".

Christ's Church is a working church (or should I say "cathedral") with three altars and regular services. Tourists are welcome as long as services are not interrupted.

I found Christ's Church to be absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. It has a multi-angled interior with many small alcoves, instead of the usual two transepts adjacent the nave. To accommodate, I took quite a number of photographs.
